Why is there no option to do a split screen top and bottom? It would be more useful for note taking while watching a lecture. The left and right is completely useless.

While slide-over views are available in both Landscape and Portrait screen orientation, for reasons known only to Apple, Split-screen views are only available while using the iPad in Landscape.


The most likely reason for this limitation is that iPadOS split-screen views show adjacent App windows in the iPhone-native screen mode - this being a vertical “taller-than-wide” view designed for small screens.
