Why doesn’t find my iphone show last location? It was used this afternoon and is now missing and offline due to dead battery or at bottom of pool…, but was working

If the battery is dead, there is isn't much that can be done. However, keep checking, it may come back on-line. See this:

FindMyiPhone is supposed to show last location in last 24 hours, but it doesn’t. My wife was using her phone in our house this afternoon, now it’s missing and reportedly offline, so why don’t I see last liocation? Guessing it’s at neighbors
