MAC OS 12.6. BE WARE! Time Machine is failing to backup complete paths on drives with no notice of a failure. Even when it should be backing up the complete drive. There are not entries to exclude the paths.

What is the best alternative to Time Machine backup software?
I just found out trying to restore a critical file from Time Machine backups to discover the entire path was missing from the backup. With further investigation, I found several entire paths missing in my backups. This bug is unacceptable risking the loss of data.
Is there any way to validate backups are valid prior to an attempt to restore a filed, path, or drive?
