My phone won’t connect to my network at all, and when connect to Wi-Fi it won’t download the updates and keeps saying it’s not connected to the internet. When it clearly is.

You need about 6 GB device storage and good Service & Wi-Fi.
If they are On, turn Off Hotspot & VPN.
Charge the battery > 70%.
