“Other” User appeared suddenly

I see the Other user after I login to my account on my Mac which is asking for an username and password. I have seen some solution to give

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindowSHOWOTHERUSERS_MANAGED-bool FALSE

but when I try this my terminal says

sudo: command not found

can someone please help with this, thanks

You then click the one you want to log in to, then it asks you for the password. This is surprising, because you have the "name and password" option selected in the lock screen settings. Interestingly the heading does say "when switching user". I can also confirm that it works in that case and shows two boxes (one for name the other for password). What I am confused about is: why am I only shown this options when switching user, but not when logging in for the first time? This feels quite unintuitive.

username is not in the sudoers file. This incident has been reported to the administrator. Hello everyone, I have a MacBook Air M1 (2020), with MacOS Sonoma 14.0. I am the only user of this computer, and I am the admin, I have admin privileges. I was trying to edit sudoers file. But I made the mistake of trying to edit with vim, instead of using "sudo visudo." After that, and after seeing the sudoers file, I close it. But now, I can't use sudo commands. For example, when I run: sudo echo "hello world" I got the next prompt: username is not in the sudoers file. This incident has been reported to the administrator. I'm trying anything (recovery mode to edit sudoers, etc.), but I can't find a solution. I don't mind to restore sudo, sudoers, su or any file necessary. Thank you.

Cannot delete a user https://youtu.be/L321PfzH0QE I am on Mac OS Monterey 12.6 and I want to delete a user. When I type the user password (which is blank), the window shake like I can't. Can someone help me ?

You need a space character just prior to -bool

Having said that it may not be the solution to your problem, and I do not recommend using Terminal or "defaults write" commands which may no longer work.

If your login window is showing "Other..." the reason may be that you enabled the root user, which is never required. How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support describes how to disable it.
