my macbook air wont force quit apps or shut down

Hi everyone! So yesterday my teams was being weird and I couldn’t open it unless someone sent a message and I clicked on it. Finished what I needed to do and tried to restart it, wouldn’t do anything. Then force quit apps, again, nothing happened. I then tried to shut it down and nothing! It’s as though I’m clicking on the actions and they don’t exist or something :/ v worried pls help!!

Press and hold the power button until your Mac shuts down. That takes about ten seconds. After it shuts down, press the power button to start it again.
