hi, i can’t update my mac because my mouse won’t connect to the mac. i’ve attempted to access the terminal and update from there but it’s been 30 minutes since i typed my password in! do i keep waiting or what should i do?

Plug a wired usb mouse into the USB port.
Force a shutdown by pressing and holding the on/off button until it completes.
Restart in Safe Mode and try again. If successful do a normal restart.
