What happens when you hit CMD + Power Button combo?
I was reading various suggestions on this forum for getting a new wireless keyboard going when you cannot type in the password to log in. After trying this combo I have not been able to boot up the computer. It hangs up halfway through the gray screen with Apple icon.

yes, bluetooth keyboards tend to be troublesome and problematic on initial startup/or for troubleshooting
my suggestion to you is to get a wired USB keyboard and mouse to use as a spare in that case. Pretty much any USB wired mouse and keyboard set will work on a Mac

I spoke with Apple Support.
CMD + Power Button just shuts the computer down.
What does this combo do: CMD and Power Button?
