Yes, I wanted to delete old photos from my iPad mini (8/22/14). Kept getting message 'storage is full'. Went ahead and deleted some photos. Let me say there is no 'Recently Deleted Folder' on the mini iPad as in recent iPads. For the heck of it, I clicked on the 'blue albums' icon at bottom of screen and to my surprise 'select' appeared, clicked on it, then 'Delete All' appeared on upper left side of screen, I clicked on 'Delete All'. Delete 5 items appeared - all got deleted. This is not how I used to do it which I've forgotten. I thank you for opening up my brain. Yes, my eight year old mini iPad 2 still works; however, I do not use it for email. Presently am using iPad gen. 9 but will never part with my mini.
Just delete your photos from your Photo Library - and then permanently delete from the Recently Deleted folder - but remember that if you using Photos in iCloud, you’ll be deleting photos everywhere.
