iMac macOS Monterey v. 12.6 is unable to import photos from my iPhone 12

iMac macOS Monterey v. 12.6 is unable to import photos from my iPhone 12 when the iPhone connects to the iMac with the USB/Lightning cable. I swapped out the cable and it still did the same thing. It appears to be in a loop "Preparing to import photos..", repeating that every few seconds. Don't know if the problem is the Mac or the phone.

iMac, OS X 10.11

Very confused. I use automatic updates on all devices and my iPhone now tells me that I’m up to date on Monterey 12.6 - no mention of Ventura. ???

Monterey 12.6 is the last version of Monterey. Getting to macOS 13 Ventura requires a system upgrade, not an incremental update.

You can check, if your Mac is compatible with Ventura here: macOS Ventura is compatible with these computers - Apple Support
