Yosemite OS to newer OS

I'm having an issue getting into many sites. A privacy error comes up instead error NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID and won't let me in many sites. I think I need to update my OS I have Yosemite OS 2015 macbook air. And I think the only Os I can maybe get is el capitan OS? Will this fix my issue? I can't even watch netflix bc it says its out of date my pc. Can I upgrade to the el capitan?

MacBook Air 13″, OS X 10.10

Back up your data, check the application compatibility table, click here, and then on the download link for a more-recent OS. That model's maimum one is Monterey.

Catalina and higher won't run 32-bit software; if you upgrade to one of them, use Go64 as well.

If you've encountered the Let's Encrypt certificate expiration issue, upgrading to El Capitan won't itself fix it.
