You may add, notify, or remove a Legacy Contact for your Apple ID as described in How to add a Legacy Contact for your Apple ID - Apple Support

-"You can add one or more Legacy Contacts in Apple ID settings on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac."

-"You’ll receive an email confirmation when a Legacy Contact is added or removed for your account."

A Legacy Contact’s access to your Apple ID is limited as described in http://support.apple.com/HT212361.

Re: “… Apple makes it impossible to pass this devices down the line! …”

Actually they DO have a system which is quite well thought-out and should be part of any responsible estate planning.

See details here:

How to add a Legacy Contact for your Apple ID – Apple Support (AU)

NOTE: This system still does NOT give your heirs access to any data on your device itself as it remains protected by password/passcode and those are local-only settings.

Suggest a folder be created in your iCloud - which IS normally secure but WILL become accessible to your heirs - containing pertinent instructions.

It’s important for your Legacy Contact(s) to fully understand what they need to do and when.
