screen contrast and saturation way too high..whats wrong?

On my 2018 MacBook pro, the screen contrast and saturation are way too high!!

All display settings are normal, calibration, etc. All color contrast settings are also correctly set up. Yet my saturation and color contrast is super high, with little detail, and oranges and blacks totally dominate pictures. there is nothing turned on in the accessibility menu either.

Well, I trust you have rebooted the machine, shut down and restarted the machine...


—Try a safeboot a How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies


—On an Intel machine you can also try

resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support and test.

resetting the  SMC Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support




— plug in an external monitor and compare your results there


—take it in over the counter if no resolve


In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment, in th USA anyway:


Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple


Outside the USA

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

Look at >System Settings>Accessibility>Display>


Display Contrast... and verify nothing got changed there
