can I upgrade directly to Ventura from Big Sur?

I have a macbook pro 2019 using Big Sur. Can I upgrade directly to Ventura (skipping Monterey), or should I first upgrade to Monterey?

Technically, you can skip macOS 12 Monterey

But do suggest having the most current version of macOS 11 Big Sur before attempting the Ventura upGrade

That would be Big Sur 11.7.9

Also suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.

It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) to download, expand and then commence to install.

If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.

It will interfere with both the download and installation process.
