Vertical Lines on my iPhone 16 Pro Max display

I have been experiencing some weird glitches on the display: for a fraction of a second, I can see vertical line appearing on the screen which looks a bit like interference that is caused by a magnetic field. This happens 2-3 times a day. I thought it may have been the issue with the hardware so I exchanged my iPhone 16 pro max but I have been seeing the same on the new phone. Is it possible that the hardware on both phones is botched or is it something iOS related?

Yours is really bad: in my case, the lines appear quite randomly and for a fraction of a second. They are not continuous so I do not have restart the phone. Though there is no pattern of them appearing on the screen and it is super annoying (if only twice, three times a day for a very short time). After all the price tag on the phone was quite considerable and one would like it to work with no such issues. I posted the comment because I was curious if other users experienced the same glitch.

Hi.I don’t know anything else; Apple Support said they would fix the issue with a software update. They downloaded the log file for analysis… Unfortunately, the issue still persists for me with version 18.2. I will contact them again in 2025 if nothing changes! You should do the same; if we stay silent, they won’t do anything!

I’m experiencing the same issue with two vertical lines on my screen. It started last night when I plugged in my phone to charge, took a shower, and returned to find two vertical white lines had appeared. I tried restarting the phone by pressing and releasing the volume up and down buttons, then holding the side button until the Apple logo appeared, but that didn’t resolve the issue. I reached out to Apple Support via Chat and followed the same steps as instructed, but the technician eventually advised that an appointment with Apple would be necessary. I’ve only had the phone for about two weeks. This is the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Attaching screen:

I have experienced this issue before 2 or 3 times very occasionally 2 weeks ago and never noticed it again until last night when I was in an indoors concert which it did it around 5 times in the span of an hour roughly… it was always when waking up the screen from “always on display” or when pressing the camera control button.

my phone was fairly hot because I had it on my hand while taking raw photos and recording in 4K. That’s what leads me to think it happened that often during that time?

Since then I’ve kept locking and unlocking my phone and the lines are not coming back…

but for the looks of it if it’s only happening when using “always on display” and in the same scenario for all of us so I really hope it is a software issue that gets fixed soon and not hardware related

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I am getting split second vertical lines across my display too! Apple replaced the display on my phone after saying the lower part of the screen had a dead zone, which is what was causing the vertical lines to appear. However, even with the new display, I am experiencing the same issue, frustrating!! When you pay this much for a phone, you expect everything to work seamlessly without such issues.

I preordered my phone and it had the lines so I quickly exchanged it and guess what: the lines appear on this one too (16 pro max). Does it mean that for all of us they want to change the screens? Some technical support people say it’s a software issue, others that it is a hardware one: which one is it then?? The bottom line is: I am not entirely thrilled to have the phone tampered with when I paid a considerable sum of money to have a fully operational one from the start…the problem with the lines is that it seem to affect only some people and since it is not of a large enough a scale, apple will probably not do too much about it…

Same here: no new iOS release has fixed it and it seems like the group of people who are affected is too insignificant in size for Apple to intervene. Some people say ‚I got a new device’ which is not too helpful: I am already on my second device and the problem is persisting and really bloody annoying!

I returned my first IPhone 16 Pro max because of these issues as well. To my surprise the replacement does it too!!!… My Wife’s 16 pro max doesn’t have this issue… Very frustrating and feel like I shouldn’t have upgraded from my iPhone 13… this has seriously made me a think about exploring android.
