Vertical Lines on my iPhone 16 Pro Max display

I have been experiencing some weird glitches on the display: for a fraction of a second, I can see vertical line appearing on the screen which looks a bit like interference that is caused by a magnetic field. This happens 2-3 times a day. I thought it may have been the issue with the hardware so I exchanged my iPhone 16 pro max but I have been seeing the same on the new phone. Is it possible that the hardware on both phones is botched or is it something iOS related?

I thought maybe i broke my phone but not after reading all of you guys’s comments. @apple pls fix this.

I have this too. It happens multiple times a day and I'm running 18.2.1. It usually happens when I tap the always on display to unlock it. I think I read somewhere that turning off the always on display stops it, but that's one of the features that prompted me to upgrade. It's getting really annoying now.

I do still have the vertical lines issue even after all these iOS updates including this most recent one. I intend on going to the Apple Store and swapping it out as soon as I return from my vacations this season. By then they should more than have enough new batches by then that aren’t from the same original one that generated this issue. I will be keeping my eyes and ears open to these discussions as we are still hearing about people having this issue on new phones. Mine continues on occasion when I activate Siri using the side button, and on occasion when I get a notification. I have had a few games crash on me as well, and they are in Apple Arcade. That’s concerning.

Hi everyone. Since 18.3, I haven’t experienced the vertical stripes even once!!!! Unbelievable that others are still having this issue. In 18.3 RC, I still had the problem. Before that, I experienced it multiple times a day. Since 18.3, everything has been fine—I hope it stays that way. 😌

I still experienced them in 18.3. Go a few days without restarting your phone and you'll see them. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue where there is some graphical degradation over time the longer the phone is up without a reboot. There have been several graphical issues like this with animations in the past. I've been on 18.3.1 since yesterday. No issues yet but I usually start seeing it after about 2 days of uptime.

Hello, I have been experiencing the same issue since I bought my iPhone 16 Pro Max in January 2025, so it seems that no updates have fixed it until now. I have been considering sending the phone for repair to Apple service, but I see that it does not guarantee a solution to my problem. Is this something that will be fixed with an update, or is it a hardware issue? Has anyone received a direct response from Apple or knows how this issue is usually resolved with these models?

I am fairly sure that most of us who are frustrated with the problem find your comment quite useless. We would rather hear from Apple support than from someone who I recon doesn’t have to deal with the issue.

That's the point. This is a user to user only forum. Apple doesn't participate here, so if you want to hear from anyone at Apple it will NEVER happen from posting here. You can consider my comment useless, but since you clearly don't know you are only addressing other users, none of whom work for Apple, maybe what I posted isn't useless after all? Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar if you want help from Apple. You won't get it here.
