is my 27" iMac 2017 model, w/intel failing?
Yesterday iMac worked fine, today it had a blank screen when powered up. I could see external drive lights flashing but nothing else. No sound, no boot, blank screen.
Note: I replaced the internal drive (ran slow but passed tests) with a Lacie 1TB SSD external drive about a year ago and it has worked great.
I tried recovery mode----nothing
I tried safe mode----nothing
So I started unplugging everything not essential and still nothing until I unplugged the power, waited 10 mins and tried again. This time it booted up (slowly) and was working ok for a couple minutes then the screen started flashing (mostly blue) and went back to the sign in screen. I noticed the "safe mode" showing in the top left. I signed in to that and everything seemed to be working. Decided to reboot and see if it would work. It did. I ran disc utility first aid and all passed.
I'm not sure what to test or do next. Suggestions?? Time for a new Mac??
