Long delay in Apple Pay transaction processing in Sequoia

When I use Apple Pay on my iPhone the process is instantaneous. When I did not have Apple Pay enabled on macOS it went immediately to my iPhone.

Now that I have Apple Pay (Wallet) enabled on macOS Sequoia on my M4 Macbook Air it takes at least 1-2 minutes for an Apple Pay transaction to complete. Just now it's been "Processing" for at least five minutes.

I have not seen other reports of this so I think it's something about my machine and configuration. For now I'm going to try to disable Apple Pay on macOS so it will hopefully go to my phone. I have a hunch this is related to the complex history of Apple ID cleanup across our family.

I welcome any ideas or tips on how to fix this.

Ok, this is funny. The transaction was still hanging so I started poking around with the payment method dialog. It showed my Apple Mastercard account. I clicked a bit on the drop down but changed nothing. When I returned to the dialog it allowed me to complete the transaction.

So I'm putting off disabling Apple Pay to see if that's the bug.

This is confusing. Were you purchasing something from Apple or another merchant?
