Trouble Logging-in to My “iCloud for Windows Account” On my PC

I can’t successfully log in to iCloud for Windows app. I provide my password and enter the corresponding 6 digit Verification Code, and then whole process starts over again in an endless loop. I can never get past entering the code without returning to the request to provide my password. Any clues about how to get beyond this obstacle? Do I need to uninstall the app, download a new version, and reinstall? Help is much appreciated. Thank you
