Safari is opening a new window instead of a tab-despite resetting

Hi All,

I am having problems with my website tabs in Safari since my MacBook updated to Sequoia 15.3.2.

Every time I click a link, the website opens in a new window, rather than a new tab.

i have followed the previous advice to go to settings, tabs and set to always, automatic and even never. then I have tried restarting the mac, but no joy. It seems to work sporadically to sometimes open a new tab , but then the next one goes back to opening a new window.

This is driving me mad and it's only 10am! Any help, very gratefully received! Thanks
