How do I disable the Epson Firmware update on MacBook Pro?

I installed the Epsom recommended firmware update. Immediately after, the printer wouldn't print using my generic ink cartridges, saying it couldn't read them.

I bought some Epsom printer cartridges and still it won't read them.

How do I disable the Epsom Firmware Update?

Thanks,

Donna

I’ve looked online at the Epson site and there are no software downloads.

Thanks for that — the Epson WF-2850 is notorious for firmware updates that block third-party (non-Epson) cartridges.

Unfortunately, with the Epson WF-2850, once you install a firmware update, you can't disable or roll it back through Epson's official software or settings. These updates often specifically target the use of third-party ink cartridges — even some older Epson-branded ones may stop working.

Since even your Epson-brand cartridges aren’t working, it may be worth contacting Epson directly. If the firmware update caused the issue, they may offer a replacement or repair — especially if it’s recent.
