It will be helpful if you can provide us with more info about the laptop, specifically which model and release year - MacBook, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?
If you cannot boot the computer to get this, you can input the serial number here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
It appears Apple's Check Coverage page once again no longer works with older serial numbers.
However, EveryMac.com shows the serial number to be for a MBPro 13" (Late-2011):

Maybe someone here can ID your MBP from the pic of the logic board you provided.
Meanwhile, look for the serial number printed on your Mac. It’s usually on the underside, near the regulatory markings. The print can be very small, so I find it helpful to snap a pic w my phone and enlarge that to see the number more clearly.
Input that serial number into the coverage link I posted earlier and the result should include the critical model year info that you need when sourcing parts.
A1278 form factor code looks up to 13-in MacBook Pro from 2008 through Mid 2012.

Hi, Many thanks for the help,the laptop is a MacBook Pro, I have found some numbers on the inside of the back cover hope it helps:804-02486-A. 15.05.26. 115A099541. Found some numbers on the rear of the motherboard on the ram slot: Serial No:C********. MLB No:C*****DTMMAJ.
Hope some of this helps, I bought it second hand and looking at pcb has had many repairs, looking at numbers in back cover, looks like date reversed, 26.05.15 could be a clue.
