"We have reviewed your request, and access to your account has been denied."... But I never made a request.

I received an email from Mail@email.apple.com today, which said:

Dear [myname],

We’ve reviewed your request, and access to your account (mail@gmail.com) has been denied.

Apple


It came into the gmail account that this is connected to. I hadn't made any request or attempted a sign in anytime recently. Is this from some phishing attempt? What should I do to ensure my account is secure?

This isn’t a scam - I received the same today, and tried to reactivate my account and it’s now been locked permanently without me asking for any of this.


Got onto Apple support, and they said they do not email in advance to let you know this will happen to you so you will no longer have access to that said account.


Ive read on other forums it’s due to inactivity but Apple doesn’t tell you in advance (in their t&c’s)
