Touch ID doesn't work on Magic Keyboard

I’ve never had luck with touch ID. It never worked for me on the iPhone. Thank goodness I have Face ID now.

Well, with the magic keyboard, I’ve tried setting up touch ID on a couple of fingers. It may work for a brief time while I’m using the computer, but the next day it won’t recognize the ID.

Is there any way to make this touch ID work, or are there just some fingers on some people that the app simply won’t recognize?

Touch ID worked sort of well (frequently took 2 or 3 touches) for me for several years on my Magic Keyboard but recently became significantly worse. I've tried cleaning the sensor, removing my fingerprint and adding it back again and like you it only works for a brief time and then completely refuses to recognize it. I'm suspecting that it may be due to humidity changes in my house that are affecting my fingerprints. I'm wishing for Face ID on a Mac.
