Finder Favorites not mounting NAS volume in macOS 26

I have a NAS volume named "media" that I frequently access so I have it on the Finder sidebar favorites. This was added by opening the volume when mounted, and dragging the name (top of finder) to the sidebar favorites list.

Previously on macOS 15, when I click on the sidebar link, it would open the /Volumes/media if it was mounted, and if not already mounted, it would mount to the NAS then open it.

Now on macOS 26, when I click on the drive when it is not yet mounted, it would give this error

"" can't be opened because the original item can't be found

I found that the following is a temporary workaround:

  1. Create an alias for the NAS folder.
  2. Try to access the alias - Finder will give an error. Select the option to Fix alias.
  3. Select the NAS folder to "fix the alias".
  4. Check to make sure that the alias now works.
  5. Copy the alias to the sidebar.

It's not ideal, but might suffice for me until the issue is addressed.
