How to disable Liquid Glass in iOS 26 for better readability?

Is there a way to turn it off? Go back to the previous look? I changed my wallpaper to solid black, that makes items on the Home pages readable, but things that pop up over other screens are difficult to read. I feel like my eyes are always searching searching searching.

  • You cannot downgrade to any previous version. That has never been supported.
  • You can reduce the Transparency effect at Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency.
  • You can send feedback to Apple. Product Feedback - Apple

Not unusual for all users to like changes after an update and it happens every year. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and there are others that love it.

You can’t turn it off, however;

Open Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Display & Text Size, then toggle Reduce Transparency = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Motion, then toggle Reduce Motion = on.

In addition, you can provide ⇢ Product Feedback.

If enough requests are made, your feedback might help with future development, like a toggle in the settings.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉

Apple's arrogance in thinking that forcing "Liquid Glass" on everyone -- despite its clearly obvious health risks to vision from poor visibility (including recommended background and tint change) is unbelievable. All it needs is an "OFF" switch to "Liquid Glass" and give me the normal lettering that every computer, book, newspaper and magazine has used and still uses in all publications. Just let me turn "Liquid Glass" off. Apple says they won't allow it.

This arrogant problem, vision damaging (for at least some of us), forced issue is unbelievable.

APPLE: Please put in an "Off" switch to "Liquid Glass" immediately. Vision health is NOT an option.

You aren't writing Apple here. This is a user to user only forum. Your request won't be seen by anyone at Apple and it really isn't as simple as an on/off switch as you might think it is. But if you want to have more control over the Liquid Glass effects, read this and try the options detailed to see what may work better for you --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

I stand by your question as well. I have read, and taken everyone’s advice about turning on ‘reduce transparency’ however- in doing so, I cannot see some of the features that apple offers. For example; when you are scrolling in your photo library, and would tell you what month and year you took photos in (top left corner), there is no description anymore. This is very frustrating… it is very hard to see with Liquid Glass in full effect, and when we try to ‘help’ the problem, there are still some very big issues.

Update to 26.1 then Settings, Display and Brightness, Liquid Glass, Tinted

you will have to turn off Recuce Transparency and Increase Contrast in the Accessibility settings above, if you turned them on before

The rest of your post is outside our scope so feedback here https://apple.com/feedback
