Manual mailbox migration

Is there a way to manually copy mailboxes from Apple mail on a High Sierra machine to a new Macbook air running Mojave?

Migration assistant did not do it - It did transfer mail accounts, but not the emails/mailboxes. In fact, it transferred very little, but did include my safari bookmarks. So I am doing the rest manually.

Thank you very much!

Thanks for your suggestion - I ended up exporting each mailbox to a thumb drive and importing them on the new computer.....time consuming but successful. My preferences and account settings were migrated, just not any emails.

Thanks for your time.
