I recorded a video in the wrong format - not iframe. How can I get a AVCHD video onto my Mac? Can I edit AVCHD with something other than imovie on my mac? It will play in VLC.

I recorded a video on my Panasonic HS-80 video camera in the wrong format - not iframe. How can I get a AVCHD video onto my Mac? Can I edit AVCHD with something other than imovie on my mac since it is not compatible? It will play in VLC.

You can do cut and trim editing with QuicktimePlayer on your Mac. However, the more versatile way would be to import the AVCHD files into iMovie 10 and edit them there. You can do that directly from your camera. AVCHD is not incompatible with iMovie. Take a look at this thread for more information:
