Remove "Reachable At" Mobile Number

Hi there,

My iPhone was recently stolen and was connected to phone number X.

I want to be safe and assume that this number has been compromised and therefore i want to remove it from my "Reachable At" section of my Apple ID account.

I have added my other number "Y" to the list.

The section will only allow me to remove number Y and not X.

There is an information icon next to number X that says:

"This is the number from your iPhone. It is used by iMessage and FaceTime. To remove this number, sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on your device."

Unfortunately, this device is no longer in my possession and will never be again. How do I remove number X from my Reachable At section?

Cheers

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 12

From the article below.

  • If the phone number that you want to remove belongs to an iPhone that you can't access, change your Apple ID password. This removes all phone numbers from your iPad, iPod touch, and Mac. Calls or messages for the removed numbers won't appear on those devices anymore.
