I accidentally deleted mac hd hard drive in Recovery Mode and now can't reinstall software. Help?

When I was trying to erase my iMac in Recovery Mode and make it brand new, I accidentally deleted my hard drive and now when I try to reinstall the software, it doesn't have a disk to download onto. It shows Recovery HD but it is locked and only has 500mb of storage so it wouldn't fit on there anyway. Did anyone experience the same problem or know what I can do to fix my iMac? Let me know if you need additional information.

I’m going to assume that Recovery (and selecting the load-the-latest macOS version there, using option-command-R) is failing.


But if you haven’t tried booting with option-command-R to enter Recovery, try that.


If the above is failing, download High Sierra or Mojave on another Mac, and build a bootable installer, and transfer that to the problem Mac, and boot and use that to reinstall, or to erase and format as GPT HFS+, and reinstall. Possibly migrating your data using the install-time migration, or later using Migration Assistant.
