Anybody have an idea how to fix this problem - distorted menu turning pink (even though screen shot shows different colour) and making it impossible to work. Same problem in iMovie 10.1.13
I have upgraded OS to Catalina and re-installed both Final Cut Pro and iMovie - problem still persists. Never had this problem before.

That's a different problem. Try running a system diagnostic. They're not very thorough but something might show up. I would look at a graphics problem.
Shift-Cmd-3 will take a full screen snap regardless of the state of the system.
I've done a full restart for the 3rd time and the problem has gone. I assume there is some conflict with FCP and another app that I have run using the graphics card, but I am unable to recreate the issue.
The "Reduce transparency" pink menus is repeatable.

At least one person a day. System Prefs>Accessibility>Display. Switch off increased contrast and reduce transparency.
I have OS 10.15.1, FCP 10.7.7.
After deleting preferences I have the same problem.
A screenshot is not possible as the screen is unreadable, but here is an iPhone pic of the screen with FCP open.

Thanks. I had the same problem. Reduce Transparency was on. Turned it off and FCP is good.
Wow. That solution worked. Last time I saw a display glitch like that it was a bad logic board. Was afraid my 5 year old MacBook was finally dead.
I have the same problem have tried switching off "Reduce transparency" but the screen is completely unreadable.
Any other solutions?
Did you also switch off "Increase contrast"?
Increase Contrast was already deselected.
Nothing is checked on the Accessibility/Display options.

Can you post a screenshot of what you;'re seeing?
Try rebooting and trashing prefs. Hold Opt-Cmd as you launch the application.
I'm assuming this is 10.47 in Catalina.
You might also update to 10.15.1. I'm not having the accessibility problem in that version.
