New feature on “Find My” app that I would like to turn off

When I set up a notification for me to be alerted when a friend leaves a location on the “Find My” app, the app alerts the person that I have set up a location notification and the person can then delete it. Can I stop that notification to the person from being sent? When I get the pop up letting me know the person will be notified, there is a “Cancel” button, but if I click on that, the location notification I am trying to set up is not set, so I have found no way to disable the alert that goes to the person.

I really don’t need my kids knowing when I am tracking them, and now they do.

Privacy, at any age, is a huge thing for Apple.

While monitoring your kids without their knowledge is a debatable concept, there is much, IMO, to appreciate about this new feature that does not appear to have an off switch.

Thank you for replying, AKRBTN. On other Apple Communities, I had seen replies from Apple employees (in addition to other users), and often within a few hours of the posts, so I erroneously assumed an Apple employee would answer me. I don’t think that I was being impatient, because I posted my question on Thursday and it is now Tuesday, and no one had responded. Before I posted my question, I DID Google it - in many different question formats - and was NEVER able to find an answer, so Google is no friend of mine. Now that I know Apple employees don’t look at these posts, I will not be posting queries, but rather, will just call Apple Support, as you suggested, and speak to someone who knows something.
