iPhone 7 Water damage

I dropped my iPhone 7 into the toilet and immediately pulled it out and dried it off. It seemed fine until an hour later when the screen developed strange lines across it and then stopped working all together.

This phone is supposed to be water-resistant, so a short interaction with water shouldn't cause this sort of damage. Is there anyway Apple can replace it because it was faulty to begin with?

It wasn't faulty; dunking in a toilet is not covered by warranty.
