Apple Music songs cannot be copied to an iPod

Hey, I was trying to download songs on my old ipod nano ( I think it is the 7th gen ) and I keep getting this warning when I try downloading apple music songs onto it.

"Some of the items in the itunes library, inclouding "", were not copied to the iPod "" because Apple Music songs cannot be copied to an iPod.

To play Apple Music songs on your iPod, turn on iCloud Music Library on your iPod.

how do I download that? can I even download music?

thanks a lot

Hi ZpiritApple,

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities. It's great to have you here. I see from your post, you have some questions about downloading songs from the Apple Music catalog on your iPod Nano.

To sync music from the Apple Music catalog you would need an iPod Touch. This option would not be available for your iPod Nano.

Join Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

Kindest regards
