how to remove someone apple ID account from my MacBook Pro

I inherited my Dad's MacBook Pro and every time I try and install updates to any apps on this computer his email address appears (which is greyed out) in the log in window and won't let me log in with my Apple ID, yet all my account information on this computer has my email address and my Apple ID info when I took over the computer.
