I cannot send SMS messages to anyone, I can only send iMessage. My phone has been updated to the most recent software and I have tried all steps posted by apple to fix.

Having the issue on two different phones, both different carriers
But have you contacted them?
Because I have zero issues with SMS or MMS messages. Doesn't look like there's something wrong with iOS
SMS is 100% a carrier feature. If it doesn’t work only the carrier can solve it.
Can't send regular text messages (SMS)
