How do I restore lost emails from Time Machine? I can enter Time Machine, go back, see the messages I want to restore, but when I click on the restore button, I go back to my original email window, and there's a popup that says restoring inbox, but when it goes away, my inbox doesn't show the restored emails.

Is Mail the only app giving you this type of issue, or does it occur in other apps as well? If it's specific to Mail, does it happen only with messages in a single email account or more than one?
On the same token as the last message, does the same behavior happen if you restore the messages from different backups?

Thank you for helping Michelle. After trying two or three times to restore the emails, I finally resorted to restarting the machine and when it came back up, lo and behold, the restored "inbox" (plus several others, based on my other attempts) appeared in the sidebar, under "on my Mac". So I got them all back! None of the tutorials I read about it mentioned restarting the machine, and that may only be necessary with Mail, because I've restored other files successfully in the past without restarting, but in any case, that's what finally did the trick for me. Thanks again for your help.
