How to listen to audio files on Mac without signing in on Apple Music?

Launching Apple Music keeps on asking for logging in repeatedly, a twenty times or so. I don't want to log in but I want to listen to certain audio files.

Changing some settings made it to ask less but still it prompts me to log in:

Library synchronizing is off, and I can't see any other setting to affect this.
Parental: Music profiles, Apple Music, iTunes Store are off

How to get rid of the pop-up window? What alternatives do you recommend to Apple Music if it's not possible (on Catalina)? I can even trash the music that I've bought via iTunes, if there's no simple solution as the bygone iTunes offered.

I use the Music app, on my Mac with Catalina, for listening to my local audio files that were formerly in my iTunes library and I never get prompted to log into Apple Music; I am, however, logged into my Apple ID account within the Music app (same as I used to be in iTunes). Have you tried that (assuming you have an Apple ID since you mentioned having purchased using iTunes)?
