Not responding Touch ID MacBook Pro 16"

Have you ever experienced not responding Touch ID? I don't say about any errors with notification on screen or please try again. No just not responding button. The best way to check it is to try set new fingerprint. Nothing happens. It can't scan your finger at all. That's obvious I can not use Touch ID to any passwords etc. SMC reset works but sometimes few minutes brake also does a job. Looks like bug

This is my second MBP16". Previous one was returned due to kernel panic problem. It also had a problem with Touch ID and it doesn't matter if it clean OS or restored backup. I hope it is Catalina bug not a hardware issue.

If resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

does not sort the issue the Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

as well.

If no resolve— I suspect you have a hardware issue.

To cover all your bases you can always trouble shoot further :

—Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot and test as caches get rebuilt.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc hampering smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204443

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

The problem isn’t so simple. Usually it works perfectly. When it stops I can not scan my finger but the strange thing is that when I try to add new one scanner detect only parts of my finger. Looks like hardware works but bug blocks or my fingers are not good enough. I admit that my hands are dry and fingers chapped so that could be a problem. But why sometimes works perfectly and sometimes I struggle. Short brake and everything comes back to the perfection. Maybe my chapped fingers block something and system locks Touch ID for a while. I have no idea. Like I said. Second MacBook 16” and same issues.
