I cannot get dictation to work.

I cannot get dictation to work.

In System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Dictation I have Dictation on, Use Enhanced Dictation checked (a file downloaded for this) and Shortcut set to Fn Fn (function key twice). So dictation should be enabled.

But in Pages or TextEdit when I press Fn Fn (or Edit -> start dictation) instead of getting the microphone symbol to start dictation, I get a low beep indicating an error.

Not even Restarting the MacBook helped.

How can I get dictation to work?

For info I have a MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2014 running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 with a Spanish (Spain ISO) physical keyboard. I also have added a British Keyboard as an input source in system preferences, which is activated for UK English dictation.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I found the problem. I use Webroot antivirus, dictation started working after I shut it down. I noticed quite a few comments in different forums that antivirus software can interfere with dictation.

The issue is closed. I hope my solution helps others.
