i created a document on pages on my ipad. i want to send it in an email, as text (not a PDF ) how?

A couple of options:

1. Tap the "more" button (3 dots in a circle) at the top right in Pages > tap "Export" & choose "RTF." That will bring up a window where you can Mail the document which will attach the file to a new Mail message.
2. Tap anywhere in a blank area of the document to bring up the bar where you can "Select All." Tap "Select All" then "Copy." Now switch to Mail, create a new e-mail message & paste the copied contents into the body of this new e-mail.

In checking on my iPad mini 5 exporting as RTF creates a RTF file, not a PDF. I know it's easy to accidentally tap the wrong button, so I suggest you try again making sure you selected RTF.

If that doesn't work, try my second option.

Even when you did suggestion 2, copy/pasting the text?? That would be really strange...
