iPad + Keyboard = Sideways Apps

A lot of apps on the App Store don’t have dedicated iPad apps so I have to download their iPhone versions to my iPad. I also use my iPad with the Magic Keyboard (which is great) the problem is that when an iPhone app is open on an iPad it is forced to use Portrait mode which is terrible when using a Keyboard in landscape more. I understand that the iPhone apps aren’t scaled to iPad screen sizes but I would much rather a iPhone size app on my landscape iPad than having to hold the iPad weirdly with the Keyboard just to use a subset of the apps.

Hello,

It is up to the application’s developer if they wish to develop an iPad version of their application. If they do not offer an iPad version then iPad will run the iPhone version. If the iPhone application does not support landscape orientation then there is nothing you can do as it would have to be explicitly added by their developers.

If the developer hasn’t released a landscape version of the iPhone app. I want the iPad to display the portrait iPhone app on the landscape iPad. There is enough space on the iPad for this and it would at least make the iPhone apps accessible in landscape.

You could suggest that to Apple through their formal feedback page: https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Don't expect a response, but if enough people ask, Apple might notice.
