I charge my Magic Mouse 2 overnight when the iMac is powered off. I use an Apple charger that I connect the USB to Lightning cable into, and the mouse is ready to go at 100% first thing in the morning.

If I use a wired mouse during the day and start to charge the Magic Mouse 2 as previously described, it usually is fully charged from a low of 10% in about three hours. It may charge far slower from the iMac USB3 port.
