Activation Lock stuck

An employ of our company is not working anymore for us, now I have to reset the macbook that he used and for that I need the apple id so that I can deactivate the Activation Lock. I contacted the user of the macbook but he forgot also the credentials

That Activation Lock is controlled by Find My (Find My Mac). That would have been something the user set when he left the company because otherwise they could not have used the computer day-to-day.

What "Activation Lock" are you talking about?

There isn't one, but you can set an EFI password or use iCloud to disable the Mac.

The linked article has information on what it is and what it looks like. It also advises that you'll need to take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Repair center to remove the EFI password.


If he used iCloud to disable it, that was done after he stopped using it.
