Photos Not on MacBook

I cannot find the original thread I posted for some reason. I have many photo albums on my desktop iMac and they HAD been showing up on other devices correctly. The last folder I created in January of this year does NOT show up on my MacBook, which is the newest device I have, FYI. This folder shows up correctly on my iPhone and my iPad. I believe advice was given that most likely the MacBook is no longer logged into my iCloud for some reason. This is very likely, BUT, I cannot figure out how to get the iCloud set up on the MacBook. Could someone please share with me the steps to do this? Thank you..

Could be no longer logged into iCloud or logged in with the wrong Apple ID, could be no longer enabled for iCloud Photos, could be having download problems, could be having upload problems (which blocks download).

Open System Preferences.

Check to see that you are still signed into iCloud in the main window (top item on the array of icons); if you see your name and maybe your avatar icon, you are logged into iCloud.

Click on the words "Apple ID" to see what Apple ID you are logged into (should match your other devices), and whether you have Photos checked (which you should).

Open Photos.

Open the Preferences window (in the Photos menu).

Open the iCloud frame (in Photos' Preferences window).

Check to make sure iCloud Photos is checked.

Close the Preferences window.

In the left sidebar of the main Photos window, click "Photos" under Library at the top.

In the bar at the top, choose "All Photos" (instead of Years, Months or Days).

Scroll to the bottom of the window. Below the last row of thumbnails, you should see two rows of text.

The first line of text should show counts of photos, videos, and maybe other items. Do they match the costs on your there devices and on iCloud.com?

The second line should display a status. "Updated Just Now" is typical, but many others are possible. What do you see?
