Problems with Mac OS Catalina

What are the know problems with OS Catalina upgrade. I have Sierra 10.12.6

I have resisted upgrading because I always hear about problems with upgrades. So now my OS is truly outdated. What is the best option for me to upgrade to. Should I try Catalina or and older version that won't be a problem?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

I've had no issues.

The biggest potential problem you're likely to run into is the fact that Catalina does not support 32 bit applications.

For Example, Microsoft Office 2011 and earlier will not run on it at all.

Office 2016 needs updates from Microsoft for compatibility.

Many OEM printer/scanner utilities will not work (the printer may still print just fine, but the software from the manufacturer won't work).

Check your critical applications for compatibility before you upgrade!

www.roaringapps.com is a good resource for that.

If you have 32 bit apps that you can't replace or upgrade for compatibility that are critical, you can upgrade to Mojave instead of Catalina.
