Stop column division in Pages 10.1

Dear all,

I would like to know how to return to single column writing after dividing a document into 2 columns or, more broadly to change division to "n" columns after having divided it into "m" columns.

I do not want to use a text frame.

Here is what I tried:

  • Position the cursor on the next line (line break in the right-most column) then change number of columns (doesn't work)
  • Insert section break after the last line of the right-most column, then change number of columns. This works but I inevitably lose a line.

Is there some other way?

The "layout break" of old Pages '09 seems not to be available anymore.

Thanks

Just highlight the text you want to be in n columns, and change the number of columns using the Layout tab of the Format Inspector. In other words, after where you want your two-column section to end, press the Return key as normal to make a new line, start typing, then highlight this line and set the number of columns to 1. Pages creates some kind of break that you'll see if you click View > Show Invisibles from the menu, but I don't think you can insert one manually.
