Can't get gmail in Mail because too many redirects

I got a new phone and my laptop was stolen a few days before. I have several mail accounts, cloud yahoo etc. However my two main accounts from Gmail I cant excess on the phone as it propts periodically to verify the account in settings. The next promt is to "rewrite password" However before I can do so it askes to continue ato a nother settings "Google would like to..." it goes into the endles loop after I pressed "continue" too many redirect safari cant open this page. Surely Google should know what it is doing and Apple should be able to get this problem sorted as it seemingly exists for the past 12years!!

Need help as I need my gmail to work on my phone!

I am having difficulty fully understanding your issue. Is your GMAIL account set up in your MAIL app that comes with your iPhone (iOS)? OR are you using Safari to check your GMAIL account on the web? Have you tried to delete the GMAIL account on your iPhone and then set it up again? Do you use the GMAIL app at all? Can you elaborate further on what exactly is going on for the past 12 years as you mentioned in the post?

Ask google or look at their support site, Apple has nothing to do with gmail, so there is nothing for Apple to sort out.

Hello Axel

thank you for your reply.

I look at my mail via the mail app on OX and OS on the phone. As said, first the laptop was stolen than the phone packed up. I could restore the phone thru a old backup on a external hhd. Mail on the computer is working fine, with all accounts loading. However on the phone, the gmail account is not loading. No do not ever go onto the google app to check mail.

The 12years are referring to the oldest post I could find, someone having that problem with safari.

BTW I did all the "allow cookie", cross-tracking etc, but did not uninstall gmail on the phone yet and would like to avoid if possible.

Note that since your checking your GMAIL emails from the iPhone's Mail app, Safari is not in the picture at all.

I am understanding from your response that the GMAIL issue is with the Mail app on the iPhone and that you are not getting any mail from GMAIL on that app. If this is the case the what is the error that you are seeing on your screen when you attempt to get emails from GMAIL?

Hello Alex. That is the thing. Sometimes even before I open mail, latest when I open mail, it promts me "Please verify account in settings" I than have the option of "Cancel" or "continue" . In settings it will again tell me that this will allow google to get info...... "cancel" or " continue". Than from the settings menu it goes into Safari and shortly afterwards it give me the above error message?? Sorry but really do noot know how better to describe it )-:

Hey there! Have you happened to “Clear Safari History And Web Data”? In Settings > Safari? It seems to me maybe you contracted a bug through the web, if in Safari this is the way to fix it......otherwise, have you removed and re added the account?

Google has also made recent security changes, requiring you to allow Google Mail on a particular device to access your mail. Sometimes removing and re adding your account will prompt that notification.
