Both my wife's and mine apple devices running with latest softwares. But since I have created my home and using HomePod as a hub to control all HomeKit devices, I have been trying to connect my wife to control the devices. but as soon I send the invitation and she accepts it, under the people only her name appears but doesn't allow her to control any devices.

There used to be a section on that page, what to do if the invite didn’t work.
I have tried all what I could including what you have suggested. The request just spins on my wife’s app and as soon as she accepts it, It goes in the dark and leaves my name is replaced by her name on my home app under the people tab. I had to reset all my devices to work out my home again. Has done more than 10 times now.
Nothing is said about this but I think you should add this as well.
Make sure she’s on the same home wifi network and have her go into settings - general - reset- reset network settings. It will restart her device and she will need to add the wifi back in.
