Cannot send or receive text messages from my MACBOOK PRO or IPAD

Just happened this AM and I spent a couple of hours on the phone with Apple support but no luck. I can send and receive text messages (say to a Google phone) from my IPHONE but not my MACBOOK or IPAD. When I pull up the name it start in Green (for a text message) and then turns red and doesn't allow me to send it. All devices are using the same apple ID. Also I no longer get texts say from my bank to my IPAD or MACBOOK but get them on my IPHONE. Somehow both devices cannot send text/SMS or receive them. When I send an iMessage is see i on all devices. Anyone have any ideas?

You must explicitly enable/verify Text Message Forwarding for your iPad on your iPhone.

On your iPhone:

Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to ON - and explicitly enable your iPad from the list of devices.

Also ensure that Messages in iCloud is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to ON

Thanks, note I don’t have text message forwarding as I have an iPhone 6. I did check the other items u noted which was similar to what the Apple rep. Had me go through. Weird thing is that I updated some apps on my iPhone and the sms stopped working on my iPad...it worked yesterday but not today say when I sent a message from my iPad to my son who has a google phone. When I tried today instead of getting a green contact it comes up in red and says he is not set up for iMessage.
